Skiing in Morzine
The ski resort of Morzine is situated at 1000m in the French Alps, it is a beautiful ski village located in the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area and only 11/2 hours from Geneva. From Morzine skiers can either explore the Morzine – Les Gets sector which is 107kms of skiing up to an altitude of 2020m. Or they can take the Super Morzine gondola and ski the Morzine – Avoriaz sector which offers some more challenging skiing and the border into Switzerland. The Portes du Soleil ski area offers 650kms of skiing in total, a great choice for every ability of skier.

Although Morzine is not one of the higher altitude ski resorts in the Portes du Soleil they have snow making facilities so that beginners can learn on the nursery slopes in the village. Intermediate skiers will have a fantastic time skiing the never ending runs of the Portes du Soleil; it is possible to ski in six different villages in two countries in one day without ever skiing the same run twice. Expert skiers will find over 20 black runs in this area including ‘The Wall’ a 300m sheer drop of enormous moguls leading from Avoriaz into Switzerland. The opportunities for off piste skiing in the Portes du Soleil are endless. Cross country skiers will enjoy approx 48kms of cross country skiing trails in Morzine.
Snowboarding in Morzine
Avoriaz which is just up the mountain from Morzine is one of the best resorts in Europe for snowboarding. Morzine is a good base for beginners and the whole Portes du Soleil area has 7 snowparks, 3 half pipes and 4 boarder cross and miles of freeride.

The après ski in Morzine is lively and good value for money, there are over 30 restaurants serving both local and international cuisine to suit all budgets. There are many bars and pubs to choose from and a couple of clubs. There is a cinema for those seeking a more relaxed evening.
